Where do you get ECGs interpreted?

If you need to do an ECG on a patient, you will either need to interpret the results yourself or request an ECG interpretation from a consultant cardiologist or a GP with a special interest in cardiology.

Private cardiologists will charge a fee for this service and often have an option for you to discuss their reports with them should you have any questions or concerns.

Types of ECG you will need to interpret

A resting ECG

A stress ECG

An ambulatory ECG

Results may take a few days to come back and another appointment with the patient may be required to discuss the results and any next steps.

What's it like

“ECGs are a common occurrence in private general practice. It is beneficial to be able to interpret the results yourself or have someone in your practice who can. If you need help interpreting results, there are some great companies who can do this for you.”
