What is the best private GP record system?

The most used GP record system in the UK is EMIS Web. EMIS is used by over 60% of GPs nationally.

What makes EMIS Web the best electronic health record system for private GPs?

EMIS is designed to meet the requirements of NHS GPs. Benefitting from substantial and ongoing investment at a national scale means that along with Systm1 (not available for private providers), EMIS is the most robust, feature-rich and compliant GP record system.

EMIS’ Clinical Features

Sophisticated consulting module

Best in class medication and pathology tools

Interoperable with NHS GP (for joined-up care)

Broad partner ecosystem, offering diverse functionality

Decision support

Detailed clinical reporting

There is a long list of private sector focused electronic record systems. Whilst these are cheaper than EMIS and Hero, and have the benefit of being fully integrated as one system, they fall far short of EMIS from a clinical safety standard.

Too many private GPs settle for substandard systems that lack even basic functionality such as clinical coding (SNOMED) or full pathology integrations. The more advanced systems include these features, but ultimately fall substantially short of EMIS. Key differentiating features include:
