Who are the IDF?

The Independent Doctors Federation is a nationwide organisation which aims to support the community of independent GPs and specialists to help them to deliver outstanding clinical care in the private sector.

They strive to promote excellence within the medical sector and give benefits and support to members.

The IDF has a community of over 1300 members which makes it a great resource for those starting out in private general practice to connect with others in the field and share advice, support and solve problems.

IDF mission and values

“We aim to promote excellence in the independent medical sector by providing a comprehensive range of educational, professional and networking services, helping our members to fulfil their potential and deliver the best possible care for their patients. We seek to be recognised as the UK's premier membership body for independent doctors and will continue to review our range of services and to engage with relevant stakeholders to this end.”

How can the IDF help?

The IDF can help with CQC inspections and runs an appraisal scheme which is highly regarded by the GMC. Members are bound by the IDF member handbook and are governed by its articles of association so it is a good idea to read these before deciding if you would like to become a member.
