In theory, yes LMC’s can offer support to private GPs, particularly if your question is in relation to a principle. It is worth noting that the LMCs are currently going through a restructuring phase and have limited time and knowledge of the private sector.
LMCs are local representative committees for GPs. There are many LMC’s throughout the country, all covering a specific region.
Each LMC has their own website which provides local guidance for NHS general practice and private providers.
The LMC also holds a national conference which provides updates, discusses issues and gives a chance to network with others in the industry.
Each LMC is comprised of committee which is elected every four years. The committee consists of a chairman, vice chairman, secretary and a number of GPs and non-prinicple GPs in the area. LMCs are run independently in each area of the UK and the committee meets monthly.
