The British Medical Association (BMA) issue information regarding private GPs, particularly in relation to contracts and charging. In our experience we have found that there is limited support if you have a specific question regarding private practice and all they are able to do is refer to information they have published on their site.
The BMA is the trade union and and professional body for doctors and medical students in the UK.
The BMA have a selection of resources available to private GPs to give advice and support. These resources include information on setting up a private practice, working in a private practice, information on insurance and information on contracts.
They also have lots of resources on the medical profession in general, some of which can also be useful for private GPs.
We have found that beyond these resources, there is not much additional support available for private GPs if you have a specific question you need help with.
The BMA hold events for GPs throughout the year which range from roadshows, online learning and webinars which are great to connect with colleagues and discuss important topics for the profession.
Standard membership of the BMA is £39.16 per month.
